My take on GarudaMiles Platinum

GarudaMiles Platinum is one of my favourite card. I have gotten so much value out of this card when flying with Garuda Indonesia and SkyTeam Alliance.

The benefits of GarudaMiles Platinum, as per GarudaMiles website

  1. Priority baggage handling
  2. Dedicated check-in areas
  3. Priority boarding with 1 companion
  4. Priority lines at security
  5. Access to Garuda Lounge, with 1 companion
  6. Additional baggage allowance
  7. Priority waitlist on ticket reservation
  8. Tier bonus for miles

Garuda Lounge Terminal 3This has made flying so much enjoyable as you don’t have to queue and waste so much time at the airports.

You also get the priority benefits even when you fly economy class. The priority benefits start from check in where there is a dedicated check in counter and signage ‘Sky Priority’. When you check in your luggage, you will get ‘Priority’ tag so your luggages will come out first on the conveyour belts. When you fly international routes, most airports have priority security lines and you will see signage ‘SkyPriority’. This line always almost empty so you can skip the lines and pass the security check. Last part is the priority boarding, where boarding is commenced for First Class, Business Class and SkyTeam Elite and SkyTeam Elite Plus Members.

GarudaMiles’ benefits on SkyTeam Alliance

Also that time when I fly with KLM on their intra europe flight, from Amsterdam to Paris, I can use my GarudaMiles Platinum as KLM is part of SkyTeam Alliance. I can earn miles on SkyTeam Alliance flight. But most importantly, I can skip the lines and use the priority benefits.

What I notice is that the priority benefits are pretty consistent for Garuda Indonesia and other SkyTeam members. As I am part of SkyPriority Panelist, I have been noticing across different airports and different SkyTeam airlines.

  • Nice write up!
the service may be good, but for the same leg, GA Miles usually needs more miles than Krisflier or AsiaMiles.

      thank you..! 🙂
Yes, you are correct Garuda require more miles compared to KF or AsiaMiles. I only redeem GarudaMiles when the run promotions on award space. and they do it quite often.

I just got off the phone with a Garuda rep who explained that to get mileage from partner airlines i have to take the original boarding passes to a Garuda office and claim it. With such archaic practices I believe no one should use Garuda as the FF program and I think Sky team should push Garuda to join this century!!!!!1
