Booking Hilton Carlton Edinburgh
My wife could not pick a better time to go to Edinburgh. We went there on August, easily the peak season and the hotel rates are astronomical. The nightly rates were even more expensive than in London’s. Luckily enough I was able to redeem using Hilton Honours points and save a lot of money.
If you plan to stay in the heart of the city’s Old Town, Hilton Carlton Edinburgh is a great choice. It is near the train station, although we got lost trying to find our way to the hotel. We did not know that the hotel is slightly on the uphill and we needed to take the giant stairs.
We arrived just before 10 AM at the hotel, so we pre-checked in and dropped our luggage. I had Hilton Gold status and was informed that our room would be upgraded from King Guest room to Deluxe King. Thanks Hilton!
We then headed out to Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street Gardens and other touristy stuff. We came back in the evening, grab our keys and were told that our luggage had been delivered to the room. One of the hotel staff insisted to take us to the room, otherwise we would get lost. He directed us to the lift, past the lounge, take another lift and down the hallway. I was so grateful that they did take our luggage to the room.
When we opened the room, it looked like a suite rather than an upgraded Deluxe King room. You’ll immediately see a semi living room with sofa and working desk. On the other side is the bedroom and bathroom. I was completely surprised with the upgrade. The room was way bigger than expected, especially coming right from London. It was definitely one of the best Hilton I have stayed so far.
One of the perk of Hilton Gold member is complimentary breakfast. The breakfast area is on the upper level from the lobby. The breakfast wide variety selection is top notch and does not disappoint. The vegetable omelet was missus’ favorite.
Hilton Carlton Edinburgh is by far the best Hilton I have stayed. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the stay; the professional service, the unexpected room upgrade and the breakfast.
